Qualification system for the World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Show Jumping, Lanaken 2026

1. The first stage of the selection process is to achieve the minimum eligibility requirements (MER) established by the WBFSH-FEI at National Show Jumping Competitions (ZO) or CSI events. For 2026, these requirements are:
   • 5-year-old horses: 3 clear rounds at 1.15 m
   • 6-year-old horses: 3 clear rounds at 1.25 m
   • 7-year-old horses: 3 clear rounds at 1.35 m
2. The next mandatory selection event is the Polish Young Horse Championships & Polish Young Horse Cup (MPMK) in Strzegom, to be held on 7-9 August 2026, where the selection panel will assess the performances of horses seeking selection for Lanaken.
3. As 5-year-old horses at the MPMK are evaluated in style classes, which differs from the format of the World Breeding Championships for Young Horses (WBFSH World Championships), the MPMK programme for 5-year-old horses has been shortened to two rounds. On Sunday, 9 August, horses that have completed the MPMK and remain under consideration for selection to Lanaken must be presented in a special selection class conducted under the rules of a table A (accuracy) competition, with fences set at 1.20 m.
4. The selection panel will nominate horses for the WBFSH World Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken based on their form and performances during the MPMK (including the selection class for 5-year-old horses), while also taking into account results achieved throughout the season, as well as the competition experience of both the horses and their riders.
5. The Coordination Committee, together with the selection panel, reserves the right to require designated horse-and-rider combinations seeking selection for the World Championships to compete in an additional selection class at a ZO or CSI event. Such competition must take place no later than 7 days before the deadline for final entries to the World Championships.
6. The decision of the selection panel is final and is not subject to appeal.
